Sometimes, a biography describes a person's life from birth to death. At other times, the writer concentrates on a particular period in a person's life. We will be reading biographies of famous Australians and other people. We will be practising completing a time line, making notes of key points as events, turning points and achievements.

Welcome to EFS reading class where you can improve and advance your reading and writing skills. Hope you will enjoy blogging as well which can give you an opportunity to practise in your own time and at your own pace beyond the classroom. You will be able to access lots of resources provided for you by your teacher. You can also interact with your teacher and your classmates online and be able to view their work and give feedback. We will start with Biography as a text type and Education will be our second topic-different texts will be read and analysed in class

Each week you will need to collect news clippings about current issues and the most useful sources are The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian and The Daily Telegraph. Current concerns are usually, immediately covered by the press and it will mean you become familiar with some of the local and macro environment.
Class Activity - Take some notes using key words after reading the article which was given to you by your classmate.
Homework = Summary - Write a brief summary of the main issues the article deals with based on your notes.
Personal reflection - Respond in a written format about attitudes, feelings, reflections on the content and implications of the article.
